Aleix Espargaro with a new pole record in Barcelona

Aleix Espargaro won the best starting position before the race in Barcelona with a new track record (1: 38.742).

Francesco Bagnaia and Fabio Quartararo will start from the front row. The Frenchman led after the first part of Q2, but was overtaken by Espargaro and Bagnaia in the end.

Johann Zarco put the fourth time ahead of Fabio Di Giannantoni and Jorge Martin.

Seventh was Alex Rins ahead of Maverick Vinales, who broke into the faster group after being the fastest in Q1.

Luca Marini and Pol Espargaro finished in the top ten.

Eleventh was Jack Miller and twelfth was Takaaki Nakagami. The Japanese broke into the faster group as the second in Q1.

Alex Marquez missed the qualifiers due to a fall in the third free practice.
