Charles Leclerc set the fastest times of the two Formula One free practice sessions in Imola, where this weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix takes place in a heavily updated Ferrari SF24.

In the first practice, the Monaco native was 0.104 seconds faster than George Russell, and with a time of 1:16.990 he was the only one to complete a lap faster than 17 minute and 0.192 seconds, and in the afternoon his lap was XNUMX seconds better than the lap he set was achieved by the second fastest training driver, Oscar Piastri.

Somewhat surprisingly, the third time was set by Yuki Tsunoda, who was just 0.380 seconds behind Leclerc's time. Lewis Hamilton was fourth, Russell fifth and Carlos Sainz sixth.

Max Verstappen also starts the race weekend in Imola with problems. Already in the first practice, he was dissatisfied with the behavior of the racing car and drove off the track twice, while he lost the most time in the second sector. The problems started only with the fifth time in the first practice, and the problems continued in the afternoon, when in the second practice he only managed to set the seventh time, which was more than half a second slower than Leclerc's. In the afternoon, he managed to beat at least one of his team-mates, and during the hunt for a better time, Lewis Hamilton, who was preparing for a fast lap and driving on the racing line, also tried to beat him.

Hamilton had previously obstructed Fernando Alonso in a similar way. "Hamilton thinks he's alone on the track!" was the furious Spaniard who ended up tenth.
