Leclerc: I was too aggressive with the settings

Charles Leclerc found the cause of the accident in qualifying in the settings of the racing car.

For the second time this weekend, the Monaco driver parked his car in the protective tires of the seventh corner. But the Ferrari driver showed encouraging speed before the crash in qualifying, which was a result of the car's settings. I put myself in a difficult position, because I chose very aggressive car settings, knowing that this is the only way I can get the most out of the car," explained Leclerc.

"You can always find excuses in situations like this - strong wind, difficult conditions, but I probably went too far with the settings."

The 25-year-old Ferrari driver rejected accusations that he should take a different approach and reduce the number of mistakes he makes. "I do not think so. I'm quite self-critical, but I know where my strengths lie and what the reward is for taking that kind of risk. In qualifying, I always take more risks than the rest, so I'm always good there, but this time I went too far. I'm disappointed in myself because I made the same mistake yesterday and it shouldn't have happened. But looking ahead, I'm not worried. Before the race, I will forget about qualifying and refocus.”
