Max Verstappen annoys Lewis Hamilton with two things and his payroll is one of them, according to Red Bull Racing team advisor Helmut Marko.

Hamilton's contract with Mercedes expires at the end of this season, and according to the latest rumors, a tempting offer from Maranello is also influencing the possible negotiations. Ferrari are said to be willing to offer the Briton 44 million per season if he decides to join their team, and that could be the key if Helmut Marko is right.

Indeed, Verstappen earns 55 million for each season driven, 20 million more than Hamilton receives from Mercedes, which failed to prepare a winning car for the seven-time world champion this year. According to Helmut Marko, Hamilton would prefer to move to Red Bull, but according to Christian Horner, there is no place for him there, so he could be tempted to move to Ferrari.

"Hamilton is currently annoyed by two things," Marko said in an interview with F1
-Insider.com. "The first is that he is no longer world champion and the fact that he will hardly ever become one again. He knows that there is no place for him at Red Bull, but from a sporting point of view, Ferrari could be a better choice for him. Apart from that, Lewis is far from satisfied that he is no longer Formula One's highest-paid driver. That laurel now belongs to Max Verstappen, and that too could change with the help of Ferrari," he added.
