Formula 1 racers were called upon to stop public criticism of Pirelli, which was discussed at a rally with tire fitters and Bernie Eccleston as part of the Italian Grand Prix. The conversation was necessary because of a number of insulting words uttered after the unfortunate events in Belgium, where Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg had tire problems.

Pirelli’s men met Vettl as early as the time between the Belgian and Italian races. On Friday, however, several racers and team bosses met. They speculated on greater freedom of testing and more private criticism in the future.

“We need to find a way if we intend to stay in Formula 1. We need to have a better working relationship and collaboration with the people who are part of this sport,” says the motorsport director of the Italian company, Paul Hembery.

“You don’t have to bring a drastic change in tire width to the 2017 season under current rules that don’t allow testing. We also feel that we need more communication with the racers and other staff to be able to reach an agreement on the goals. Participants may disagree with the set, but the decision to move the sport in a certain direction must be made. Then it becomes important to make sure if we all look to the same future, ”Hembery added of plans for the future.

He added that he supports the criticism they receive, but would like to receive in a suitable environment, ie. with the team and his team. He admitted that the blame for the recent public criticism could lie on their side, as they did not communicate enough with the racers, even though they were prepared to do so. He thus proposed regular meetings for the future.
