Kimi Raikkonen will start tomorrow’s race for the Malaysian Grand Prix from tenth place after commissioners awarded him a penalty of adding three places to his qualifying achievement, as the Lotus racer is said to have obstructed Nic Rosberg. Romain Grosjean will be at the start just behind his team-mate after the rain ruined his fast lap in the second half of qualifying.

“We weren’t fast enough on the light rain tires, so I don’t think we could have been faster on the dirt track. Sure, I wanted more, but now it’s what it is. I hope we do better on Sunday. I’m a little disappointed to have lost three more places, but we have to wait until the race to see how it all unfolds. I don't know what the weather will be like, but it will definitely be the same for everyone, ”said Raikkonen. ”

“The car was a bit better today and we looked a little better in the third practice. We could easily have had both race cars in the top ten, but unfortunately it started raining at the wrong time. I put a quick lap in the second part on used tires. As soon as I drove into the pits and we put new tires on the car, it started to rain, so they remained unused for now. Too bad, but we have a long race ahead of us and now we have one set of unused tires for the dry track. We hope to be able to use them. ”

Lotus is still considering the role of an appeal against the punishment of the commissioners, as Raikkonen's hydraulics failed at the moment he was supposed to obstruct Rosberg.
